SOME famous four-wheeled legends will be making an appearance this June at one of Britain’s biggest classic car events.
This year the Footman James 37th Bristol Classic Car Show will be rolling out the red carpet with a ‘TV Cars’ theme at the Royal Bath & West Showground over the weekend of June 18-19, 2016.
A replica Dukes of Hazzard 1970 Dodge Charger, signed by stars of the iconic TV series, will be joined by an abundance of other cult classics as some of the country’s top car clubs honour motoring favourites from the small and silver screen.
Event planner Andrew Kitchen said: “We’ll be hosting a wide range of iconic machines which have captured the imagination of a generation of audiences worldwide. I’m looking forward to being transported back to my youth as I admire the displays over the weekend.”
In attendance will be KITT from Knight Rider, Starsky & Hutch’s Gran Torino, Herbie, Fred Flintstone’s ‘car’, three Italian Job Mk2 Minis, an original Saints Volvo P1800 as driven by Sir Roger Moore, and on the Capri II Register stand – truly embracing the spirit of the show – will be a trio of Ford Capris made famous in Minder, The Professionals and The Sweeney.
Away from the static displays, and there’s plenty to keep showgoers entertained throughout the weekend including an abundance of trade stands and autojumble stalls, a jam-packed classic car park and new for 2016, a British stock car demonstration area which offers visitors the chance to watch a selection of the stripped back racing machines in action.
